As part of AOS Orwell’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, members of the Employee Community Service team visited the Compassionate Centre for Physically Challenged Children in Nkpogu on Friday, 22 November 2024.
The visit provided an opportunity for members of the team to spend time with the children, understand the centre’s daily operations and contribute essential supplies to support its work.
The initiative reflects AOS Orwell’s commitment to supporting organisations that provide care, protection and opportunity to vulnerable members of society.
Supporting a safe and nurturing environment
During the visit, Sister Maurice Anoje, the centre’s lead administrator, expressed her gratitude to the AOS Orwell team for the care and affection shown to the children.
She highlighted the importance of family connections for every child in the centre’s care and explained the role community support plays in sustaining its operations.

Understanding the centre’s daily work
Sister Anoje also provided an overview of the centre’s operations and the people it currently supports.
The centre serves 27 children with physical challenges from different parts of Nigeria.
Its work is supported by 15 active staff members, including caregivers and security personnel, who help maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Providing essential food supplies
In support of the Compassionate Centre’s mission, the AOS Orwell Employee Community Service team donated a range of essential food items.
The donation included bags of rice, beans and garri, together with cartons of Milo, noodles, chicken, fish and tin tomatoes.
Gallons of groundnut oil and palm oil were also provided to help meet the centre’s daily feeding requirements.

Employee-led community engagement
AOS Orwell’s Employee Community Service initiative gives members of staff an opportunity to participate directly in activities that support local communities.
