AOS ORWELL, NCDMB GRADUATES NEW BATCH OF ENGINEERS FROM THE LAGOS ENERGY ACADEMY
Wednesday, Aug. 28……..Lagos, Leading indigenous oilfield servicing company, AOS Orwell, in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), today, have celebrated the successful graduation of 50 Engineers from the Smart Electrical Engineering Training at Lagos Energy Academy (LEA), as part of its commitment to developing local capacities and capabilities within the oilfield services industry.
The event held in the LEA premises in Ikeja GRA and was richly attended by Management, Staff and other important stakeholders from AOS Orwell, NCDMB and Lagos State respectively. In his charge, Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Dr. Simbi Wabote, expressed his excitement at the quality prospects the young Engineers had opened up for themselves just by being a part of the training. “Human capacity development is key to the sustained growth of any nation. This is why Human Capacity Development is key to the NCDMB and an integral part of our mandate and 10-year roadmap. This sort of opportunity is rare but very worth it because you have now been presented with a golden opportunity to prove the value that you have received through this initiative” he said.
Also speaking on the initiative, the Executive Director, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, Charlotte Essiet, representing the Managing Director, said that AOS Orwell was happy to be a part of something as impactful as this. “We are so excited to literally see the future unfold right before us. The technical, hands-on skills this six-month programme has exposed these young Engineers to, is certainly setting them up for successful value-adding careers” she explained.
The specialized training targets young engineers to bridge the gap between theories and hands-on skills as well as prepare the engineers for successful careers. It is also provides participants with solid foundations in Electrical and Electronics Theory and Practices, covering a broad range of electrical functions such as installations, testing, maintaining, repairing, analyzing and troubleshooting specific kinds of electrical circuits, equipment and systems.
The current graduating set already have job placements where they can immediately deploy the skills they have learned, three of those placements are with International organizations.
The six-month long training lasted for six months and combined theory and practical learning. The trainees were selected from the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS). The programme is certified by Semens and offers certification that is recognized anywhere in the world.
